The Utah Core Standards are to be used as guiding tools for teachers to plan instruction of the students. They help teachers stay on track and to meet academic content throughout the year. With every lesson plan I write I am able to refer to the Utah Core Standards and include them within my lesson. While instructing you always want to teach content that is beneficial to the future and knowledge of the student. Knowing how to incorporate and relate to these standards helps me do that on a day-to-day basis.
I have attached a lesson plan that I have created and taught in a High School resource classroom. Prior to this, I had examined the Utah Core Standards and found the specific standard that I would focus on throughout my lesson. The standard focused on symbolism and being able to identify it within a text. I used the students prior knowledge of symbolism to push them to go deeper within the lesson.

Throughout my special education student teaching within a behavior unit I have been able to take on a classroom as if it were my own. This has been an amazing opportunity for me to get a feel of what having my own class will be like. I also get a feel of how to incorporate the standards in my teaching on a day to day basis. Within developing the lessons I been able to link the Utah Core Standards by creating content driven lessons to engage various students learning styles in a period of time.
